Job description

The Pre-School Leader will be in charge of the day to day running of Jack and Jill Pre-School to ensure safe and stimulating learning through play in a caring and welcoming environment..

Responsibilities

• Ensure overall safety and wellbeing of the children
• Ensure that planning and preparation is carried out and play activities allow children to experience learning in all areas of the pre-school curriculum
• Carrying out regular observations and make assessments of each child's needs along with other staff
• Ensure the setting is appropriately laid out and is tidied up after the session ends and good standards of hygiene followed
• Engaging parents in their children's learning and keeping them informed on progress
• Liaising with the management committee and attending meetings
• Attending relevant, ongoing training courses and evening meetings
• Following GDPR guidelines regarding data
• Undertaking book-keeping duties

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• QCF Level 5 Diploma in Children's Learning & Development or working towards it
• Two years experience working with children in an early years setting (0-5 years old)
• ICT skills, Microsoft word documents
• Experience of observations, planning, recording and evaluations

Desirable Skills

• Knowledge and understanding of NI Pre-School Curricular Guidelines
• Experience of Trust Inspections
• Paediatric First Aid
• Safeguarding/Child Protection Training
• Food hygiene
