Specialist Occupational Therapist
Job description
The Occupational Therapist will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team within the RBHSC. The post holder will be responsible for a caseload of clients within children’s service, using evidence-based and client centred practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate Occupational Therapy interventions. They will have the skills and expertise to ensure that they establish a pro-active, integrated and client centred service. The post-holder will work in various speciality areas across the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children, which include Neurosciences, Orthopaedics, Paediatric Medicine and Surgery. The post holder will be required to attend further postgraduate training to develop skills and competencies to deliver interventions to children with a range of conditions to include: epilepsy, acquired brain injury, cerebral palsy, genetic conditions, neuromuscular conditions, neurosurgery and spinal cord lesions..
Responsibilities
- To be responsible for the specialist assessment and treatment of children referred to the Paediatric Occupational Therapy service.
- To be responsible for carrying own caseload and organising own workload in line with agreed priorities, policies and procedures of the BHSCT.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Hold a degree in Occupational Therapy recognised by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists or a Diploma of the College of Occupational Therapists.
- Minimum of 2 years postgraduate experience.
Desirable Skills
- Additional postgraduate training relevant to paediatrics.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Experience in the use of IT systems.
