Job description

Libraries NI seeks to recruit a Senior Services Manager for Collections, Stock and Reader Development. The SAO role is central to ensuring continuous innovation in development and effective delivery of services that contribute to strategic outcomes which have a positive impact on customers. The postholder(s) will take the lead on behalf of Libraries NI on the development, co-ordination, and effective management of a specific functional area (currently Customers, Collections, Online Services and Service Support) that underpins Libraries NI services. The postholder(s) will work collaboratively, with managers and staff across the library service network, to deliver service priorities. They will have an important role in developing partnerships with a range of internal and external partners. This is a permanent role supporting the provision of library resources and library services to our customers. .

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A third or higher level qualification and a minimum of three years experience of the management of resources (i.e. any of the following - physical, staff, stock or financial) and services.
  • OR At least five years experience of the management of resources (i.e. any of the following physical, staff, stock or financial) and services.
  • A minimum of three years experience in the delivery and achievement of service objectives/targets in the last seven years.
  • Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders and in developing partnerships, to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Demonstrate experience of developing and delivering services to enhance the customer experience.
  • Experience of leading and/or supporting the successful implementation of organisational and/or cultural change programmes.
  • Have access to a suitable vehicle (appropriately maintained and insured for Libraries NI business) or other suitable form of transport to enable the successful candidate to fulfil the requirements of the post to the satisfaction of Libraries NI.
  • Ability to work a range of hours including evenings and weekends as required.
  • Have no criminal record which would prevent working with children or adults at risk.

Desirable Skills

  • A professional library qualification.

Further Information

The base location for this post will be agreed upon appointment but two days a week will worked in either Ballymena Regional Admin Centre or Armagh Regional Admin Centre, again to be agreed on appointment.
