Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our business for a Quality Group Manager to lead the quality standards across a collective of top-tier Northern Irish artisan food producers. Our group of companies serves upscale retail and food service markets in diverse categories such as charcuterie, butter, condiments, and speciality butchery. This role entails actively developing technical and quality processes and procedures within our rapidly expanding portfolio of speciality food businesses..

Responsibilities

  • Implementing and maintaining quality control procedures, managing the administration and document control related to food safety and compliance across a group of businesses.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
  • Coaching and guiding the various producers and production teams in all aspects of quality control and food safety.
  • Communicating with our customers and suppliers on all compliance and food safety matters while maintaining strong, established relationships.
  • Leading all supplier audits and EHO inspections.
  • Conducting a strategic review of food safety and quality procedures across the businesses, aiming to obtain SALSA accreditation for the smaller artisan producers within the group.
  • Take responsibility for all employee food safety training and monitoring.
  • Developing and implementing quality improvement initiatives and reporting on quality performance to senior management.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • HND/Degree level qualification in food science or food technology.
  • Working knowledge of HACCP, food legislation, food hygiene and quality control.
  • Excellent leadership & communication skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative to build and implement quality procedures.
  • Willingness to travel within Northern Ireland (sites are based at Cookstown, Dungannon & Moira): applicants must have the means to commute to the various work locations as required.
  • You are pragmatic and ready to tackle the challenges of developing QC systems for a growing portfolio of speciality food businesses.
