Development Project Manager


Job description

Reporting to the Head of Development, the Renewables Project Manager will be responsible for all aspects of developing onshore renewable projects, along with battery storage, hydrogen or other renewables technologies. This involves the origination of opportunities, landowner negotiations, environmental and planning work, stakeholder management and the management of development projects through the planning system. This will also involve supporting other units within the business to achieve successful project developments. .

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the full project including - project planning & scheduling, risk management, budget and cost forecast & management, project resourcing and monthly reporting.
  • Responsible for obtaining planning consents for the project; managing aspects from initial planning studies through to pre-construction compliance.
  • Effective Stakeholder Management including landowners, politicians, planners, third party consultants and specialists, utilities, local authorities, and other public bodies.
  • Effective internal stakeholder management including Senior Management, Corporate Development, Renewables Operations team, Regulation and Finance.
  • Commercial negotiation with stakeholders and project counterparties.
  • Input to regulatory consultations and responses.
  • Input into choosing the optimal technology for the project.
  • Responsible for coordinating and finalizing the optimal site design for the project.
  • Due diligence on opportunities as required.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Project Management or similar.
  • Experience working in the Renewables industry, including technical and development work for large scale renewable projects.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Experience and / or knowledge of the planning process in Northern Ireland.

Desirable Skills

  • Familiar with documentation such as grid connection agreements, property agreements or renewables construction contracts.
  • Knowledge of a variety of renewables technologies, outside of onshore wind.
