The Employer is : THE ADVANTAGE FOUNDATION LTD. Ravine offers 20 completely free and tailored work experience placements per year to young people, aged 18- 24, facing mental health challenges. Ravine provides a supportive learning environment for training and work experience, developing employability skills whilst focusing on the horticultural and conservational efforts of our project. Ravine seeks to unleash the potential of our young people by providing meaningful education, training and employment opportunities to enable them to build skills, experiences and self-confidence to connect with the labour market. As a Youth Development Officer at the entry level, you will play a crucial role in supporting and implementing the Ravine program aimed at enhancing the personal and social development of young people with mental health challenges. You will work closely with the Ravine team to create a positive and inclusive environment that promotes growth, learning, and overall well-being of our young individuals. .

Responsibilities

  • Program Implementation: Assist in planning, organising, and delivering Ravine Training and activities.
  • Work collaboratively with the Ravine team to ensure program objectives are met. Outreach, Recruit and Promote Ravine to young people with mental health challenges.
  • Mentorship and Guidance: Provide guidance and mentorship to young participants, fostering positive relationships.
  • Encourage personal growth, self-confidence, and leadership skills among participants.
  • Community Engagement: Collaborate with community partners and stakeholders to strengthen Ravine impact. Represent Ravine at community events and engage with referral agents, trust services, and local organisations.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of program attendance, participant progress, and any incidents.
  • Assist in regular reports with the Project Officer, highlighting achievements and challenges.
  • Professional Development: Actively participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in youth development.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Experience or Strong Desire in Youth Development, Social Work, Education, or related field.
  • Passion for working with youth and a genuine interest in mental health.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing programme needs.
  • Access to Transport / Full Driving licence.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in Youth Development: Previous experience specifically in youth development roles, showcasing an understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with young individuals.
  • Community Networking Skills: Strong networking skills with the ability to establish and maintain relationships with referral agents, trust services, local organisations, and other stakeholders.
  • Previous Experience with Similar Programs: Experience working with or participating in programs similar to Ravine, indicating a familiarity with the goals and objectives of such initiatives.

Further Information

The Employer is : THE ADVANTAGE FOUNDATION LTD. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended, and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer. 16/17 £6.40, 18/20yrs £8.60, 21yrs or over £11.44 per hour.
