Medical Receptionist
Job description
Responsibility for reception & administration within the Medical Practice. .
Responsibilities
- Greeting patients in person and on telephone, making, cancelling appointments.
- Update patients computer records as directed.
- Liaising with various agencies where required to provide repeat prescriptions when authorised.
- Coordinate patient appointments, hospital letters etc with staff members to ensure procedures are effective.
- Ordering ambulances and booking interpreting services and secondary care appointments as directed by the GP.
- Other administrative & customer care duties as directed by the surgery management.
- Process incoming & outgoing mail.

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Previous experience in a similar role (to include telephone & face to face contact).
- 5 GCSEs grade A-C including Maths & English or equivalent.
- Ability to work alone and in a team.
- Proven verbal, written & interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to cover sickness & holidays.
- Fully computer literate.
Desirable Skills
- Working within a GP surgery advantageous however full training will be given.
- Experience in a customer care role.
