Paediatric Ophthalmology Nurse Band 6


Job description

The post holder will be able to undertake a wide range of advanced clinical ophthalmology skills at level two in one or more sub specialties in paediatric ophthalmology in line with the Common Clinical Competency Framework for Non-Medical Ophthalmic Healthcare Professionals in Secondary Care. The post holder will provide an advanced level of paediatric ophthalmology nursing care to patients. The post holder will provide child/family centred care, act as a role model, be able to work autonomously and as part of a team. The post holder will play a lead role in all developments within the care setting, seeking opportunities for learning and development and extending the nursing role within the specialism. Drawing on own expertise, the post holder will disseminate expert evidence based knowledge and skills in order to continuously develop self and others across paediatric ophthalmology departments. The post holder will assume managerial duties in their area of work. The post holder must be willing to work in different ophthalmology service sites across the BHSCT and in all paediatric ophthalmology outreach centres, commensurate with experience and training. The post holder must extend their role in different sub specialties on a rotational basis with other Band 6 Nurses. .
