Job description

To provide psychological interventions to adults 18 and over experiencing problems in their mental health and well being, referred to the Trust’s Acute Mental Health Psychology Service AMHPS. Responsibilities

• Undertake psychological assessments and formulation of treatment plans to meet the identified needs of the client referred
• Undertake Risk Assessment and formulate risk management plans in accordance with Promoting Quality Care (DHSSPS, 2009) and to liaise with other professionals as necessary
• Plan, implement care & treatment or management, as appropriate to needs of client, of the clients mental health difficulties, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the clients problems, in accordance with best practice guidance
• Deliver a range of evidence-based psychological interventions to individuals, carers and groups, as required by the Acute Mental Health Psychology Service

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Professional qualification in clinical or counselling psychology and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) by time of appointment
• Or An undergraduate degree in a relevant area or core mental health profession (e.g. nursing, social work, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, counselling, psychology, psychotherapy)
• Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings
• Experience in providing a direct psychological therapy service to adults with acute, chronic and complex mental health problems, including individuals diagnosed with a personality disorder
