Perinatal MH Parent Infant Therapist
Job description
This highly specialist post requires the ability to work with serious adult mental illness and infants who are often at risk of emotional abuse or neglect. The role will include assessment and treatment of mothers with mental health difficulties who are attending the perinatal mental health service, in order to understand the impact on the developing relationship with their infants; also psychological assessment of the infant’s emotional and cognitive development and the forming attachment relationship with the mother, and also the father when appropriate. Clinical work will involve highly specialist treatment interventions for parents and infants, including couple and/or family work parent infant psychotherapy..
Responsibilities
- To co-ordinate and manage a clinical caseload of complex cases, often involving child protection/safeguarding concerns.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Current professional registration with a recognized professional body such as HCPC, UKCP, BCP, ACP or BPS
Desirable Skills
- Experience of teaching, training and/or providing clinical supervision
