In your role as Project and Reporting Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of allocated projects, ensuring successful delivery within scope, budget, and timeline constraints. Initially with particular focus on managing a project to oversee the transition of the NI gas emergency call centre, currently with Cadent, to a new solution for NI..

Responsibilities

  • Overall Project Management: Lead and oversee project lifecycles, from initiation to closure, ensuring all project objectives are met.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Effectively engaging with project stakeholders, including the Utility Regulator, Gas DNOs and other relevant parties, to ensure alignment, manage expectations, and address concerns throughout projects.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for stakeholder engagement for enquiries, requests, and audits, providing timely responses and necessary documentation to support compliance.
  • Development of Project Plans: Develop comprehensive project plans outlining project scope, objectives, timelines, resources, risks, and deliverables. Continuously monitor and adjust plans as necessary to ensure project success.
  • Development of Project Materials: Create and maintain project documentation, reports, presentations, and other materials necessary for effective communication and decision-making throughout project lifecycles.
  • Resource Management: Coordinate and allocate project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure efficient utilisation and optimal project performance.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to minimise potential impact on project outcomes. Proactively identify and address issues that may arise during project execution.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that project deliverables meet quality standards and client requirements. Implement quality assurance processes and procedures to monitor and maintain the quality of project deliverables.
  • Communication: Facilitate clear and timely communication among project team members and stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress, issues, and risks.
  • Budget Management: Monitor project budgets and expenditures, ensuring adherence to financial constraints and identifying opportunities for cost optimisation.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to project team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment conducive to achieving project goals.
  • Reporting: Develop and maintain effective business planning and management information systems to support decision making and aid reporting on business performance (KPIs, management reporting, budgets, strategic plans etc).
  • Oversee the production of internal management reports and liaise with operational departments to improve overall reporting.
  • ESG: Implement ESG strategies and initiatives to achieve Phoenix responsible business and sustainability goals, including climate change, GHG emissions reporting and obtaining external recognition for ESG performance (e.g. GRESB).
  • Manage ESG disclosures, including emissions reporting and climate change, in line with legislative requirements and Phoenix corporate objectives.
  • Establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships with all work colleagues, contractors and partnering agencies to ensure an integrated contribution to Phoenix corporate objectives.
  • Observe and comply with policies and procedures for Health and Safety at Work and observe and continually promote equal opportunities and customer care in compliance with organisational aims and objectives.
  • Participate in learning and development activities that develop personal effectiveness and assist in improving performance in the role.
  • Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required in line with the level of responsibility of the post and in order to meet the changing needs of the organisation.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A degree or equivalent in project management, business administration, engineering, or related field or significant relevant project management experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management roles, demonstrating a track record of successfully delivering projects on time, within budget, and meeting quality standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
  • Experience in client-facing roles, such as managing stakeholder relationships or delivering presentations to clients.
  • Strong organisational skills, including ability to multitask, prioritise tasks, and maintain attention to detail
  • Excellent management skills across multi-disciplined teams.
  • IT literate with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including MS excel
  • The ability to identify issues, analyse root causes, and implement effective solutions is essential for overcoming obstacles and keeping projects on track.
  • Results-oriented and able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Desirable Skills

  • Possession of a relevant project management certification, such as PRINCE2
  • Professional qualification (e.g. Chartered Accountant, Chartered Engineer etc)
  • Knowledge and experience working in utilities, and particularly the energy sector.
  • Knowledge and experience working in a regulated environment.
  • Management experience developing and implementing ESG strategies and initiatives, including governance arrangements, preferably within an energy or regulated business sector.
  • Proficiency in the use of project management software
