Job description

The Deputy Leader will work as part of the pre-school team under the direction of the pre-school leader to provide a safe, caring and welcoming environment for children and their families in line with DHSSPS minimum standards for children under the age of 12. this will involve planning, preparing and delivering play-based activities appropriate for children aged 3-4 years, also assessment, monitoring and recording of individual children's development. .

Responsibilities

• Take the lead in the absence of leader Responsibility for safety and well-being of children Prepare and set out the playroom appropriately before session and tidy up at end of session Carry out regular observations and assessments of children
• Ensure the safety of children and staff at all times Conduct a daily risk assessment to ensure the room and associated areas are clear from hazards Promote an ethos of calm, fun and inclusivity within the setting

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Level 5 Leadership for Children's Care Learning and Development OR working towards level 5 OR NVQ III Early year Care and Education and willing to work towards Level 5 OR equivalent good knowledge and understanding of NI pre-school curriculum
