PICC Clinical Sister/Charge Nurse
Job description
The post holder will be a member of the Northern Trust Cancer Services PICC Nursing team. The postholder will also be a clinical support role to the unit manager within the chemotherapy unit and is responsible for carrying out programmes of care ensuring that practice is in accordance with NMC Code of Professional Conduct and the Scope of Professional Practice. The post holder will work closely with the unit manager and the PICC Nurse Led service team to develop, deliver and evaluate the care given to patients requiring insertion of a PICC line. The PICC Clinical Sister will also support training and education for Laurel House staff delivering PICC care to oncology and haematology patients. Under the direction of the unit manager, the post holder will show leadership by contributing to: -the professional development of nursing staff -the implementation of safe, person centred care -the effective use of evidence based nursing practice -the clinical audit activity and supporting quality improvement The post holder will work with the nursing team and wider multidisciplinary team on the unit as a resource on clinical issues and to contribute to the implementation of care standards that promote patient safety within the chemotherapy unit. .

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Currently a Registered Nurse on Part 1 of the live NMC register.
- Successful completion of a recognised SACT (systemic anti-cancer treatment) course and currently competent.
