Behaviour Specialist CTS
Job description
The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team within the Children with Disability service of the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust. Within a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework the post holder will provide specialist clinical expertise for children with a learning disability who also display behaviours of concern and their families. The post holder will provide autonomous comprehensive assessment and behavioural interventions for children and families under the supervision of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and lead Behaviour Therapist. They will work independently according to a plan agreed within the overall framework of the service’s policies and procedures. The post holder will have direct clinical involvement and a knowledge of a range of therapeutic interventions..
Responsibilities
- To contribute, in association with other professionals in the service, to the organisation and development of specialist services for children with learning disability and their families, who require behavioural assessment and interventions.
- The post holder will work within relevant guidelines, policies and legislation.
- The post holder will act as an advisor to other members of the multi-disciplinary team on the assessment, planning and delivery of behavioural interventions.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Degree level qualification in a relevant Health and Social Care/Education area (e.g. Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, OT, SLT, Teacher) with live registration (or equivalent) with their respective professional body if appropriate.
Desirable Skills
- Good communications and interpersonal skills.
