Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Placement
Job description
Throughout your placement, you will gain fantastic insight and experience working within this fast-paced Waste Management Operation to allow you to get the training and experience that you need to equip you for a professional career in Environmental, Health and Safety. You will support the EHS Team in the drive to become more socially and environmentally responsible in its operations, as well as assisting with ensuring that the company conducts all waste management activities in accordance with company policies, environmental legislation, Health & Safety legislation and Statutory legal obligations. The team will provide with hands on experience to enable you to contribute to the efficient and effective running of the department and the RiverRidge group. .
Responsibilities
- To take a proactive role in assisting the EHS Team and other divisions at each site to ensure all EHS processes and procedures are being adhered, to ensure compliance with our site rules and applicable legislation.
- To play a major role in raising and maintaining awareness of H&S / Environmental issues by being active and evident out on site, leading by example and challenging people in situations that are a cause for concern.
- Collate accident statistics and lead proactive initiatives to reduce accidents and improve the Health, Safety, and welfare of all employees.
- Collate all agreed, required Company statistics and KPIs pertaining to Health and Safety, and Environmental issues.
- Maintain the Companys EHS Policy.
- Responsible for assisting with data handling, inputting data into various databases, manipulation in Excel of monitoring data and chemical laboratory results and trend analysis.
- Develop skills in environmental monitoring, reporting and employee engagement.
- Field based work including sampling and monitoring of landfill leachate, landfill gas, groundwater, surface water and particulates.
- Provide support to the continual development of RiverRidges Integrated Management System (IMS) through EHS software in accordance with ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 standard.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Ideally a 2nd year student, currently studying a relevant Health, Safety or Environmental degree that allows you to partake in an industrial placement year
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Initiative and an ability to think logically to solve issues
- Ability to collaborate, interact & work within a team
- Able to support multiple tasks and projects
- Ability to present data in a clear and structured manner
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office software (e.g. Excel & PowerPoint)
- Ability to travel to other sites throughout the group as and when required (Driving Licenses)
Further Information
Temporary 12 Month Paid Placement / Full Time Position (40 hours) Location - Either Garvagh or Duncrue - however, on occasion you may be required to travel to other depots throughout the group.
