Parks Operative Cat C Driver
Job description
Operate specialist vehicles in undertaking work of a horticultural nature and grounds maintenance to include the following: Play Parks. Parks an Open Spaces. Bowling Greens. Woodlands. Golf courses. Roundabouts & grass management. Cemeteries & Crematorium. Allotments. Car Parks. Playing Fields (artificial and grass). Towns and villages planting. Other open spaces, ensuring proper road management and traffic control systems are used within work areas. .
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain vehicles, tools and equipment required to carry out any of the duties pertaining to the post, ensuring daily safety checks are completed
- Maintain grounds and horticultural areas to agreed standards, including planting, grass cutting, maintaining pitches/sports areas, tree pruning, hedge trimming, administering fertilisers/spraying pesticides, floral display work
- Completion of written and computerised records including Tachograph information(e.g. in house systems, accidents, defects, safety checks )
- Apply traffic management knowledge and skills in compliance with Road Traffic Regulations (NI) Order 1997 as amended and all other relevant legislation.
- Responsible for daily cleaning of vehicles etc. Carrying out routine vehicle maintenance checks as specified including cleaning and operation of any fitted power mechanism.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Valid C licence
- Hold a Driver Certificate of Professional Competence and Qualification card.
- Minimum of 1 years experience operating with a category C licence
- Full current driving licence or, if a disability prevents driving, access to a suitable form of transport to enable the duties of the post to be carried out in full
- As the post involves significant physical and manual handling elements, the post holder must be of a satisfactory level of general fitness
- Willing to work overtime from time to time to meet the requirements of the service
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment in all types of weather
