Job description

We are seeking a professional Youth Project Co-Ordinator for our YouthLinks Project. Enagh Youth Forums Project Co-Ordinator will play a pivotal role in supporting, the enablement and collective empowerment of disaffected rural young people aged 10-25 years old, who reside in Strathfoyle village and across the Enagh area of the rural Faughan DEA. The purpose of this post puts young people first, shadows them to take charge of their own lives and enable them to address their immediate situation of rural isolation & social exclusion through enabling their collective empowerment. This will be achieved through empowering young people to take social action to improve the quality of their lives through increased access to training resources, integration and inclusion of disengaged youth into wider society. .

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing program coordination and development supporting the youth work team
  • Knowledge of and working commitment to a youth led model of practice
  • Must be a confident and competent practitioner
  • Work in conjunction with young people to develop a YouthLinks Programme
  • Enable young people to have ownership of their own base, event plan their own activities
  • Support young people to develop their ideas and interests into pathways for employment
  • Support young people to develop or source their own accredited Personal & Social Development courses
  • To support rural young people to organise seminars and workshops at local level on topics related to youth specific issues
  • To support rural young people across the designated area to undertake the development and delivery of a youth needs analysis which can be utilised to inform future programs of work
  • To facilitate networking relating to the project at a local level
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures as required by legislation and/ or supplied through Enagh Youth Forum regarding Data protection, confidentiality and health and safety procedures, child protection etc
  • Any other duties, which from time to time may be deemed relevant to, and are in keeping with, the post

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Degree or equivalent in a community development / social care discipline plus a minimum of two years recent experience of working on a project of a similar nature. OR - Five years recent experience of working on project of a similar nature.
  • Minimum of two years relevant experience in programme planning and delivery. Delivering programme outputs/agreed work plan .
  • Experience of partnership working with voluntary, community and statutory agencies.
  • Awareness and recent experience of issues impacting on rural community development.
  • Knowledge of community based youth forums and services provided.
  • Knowledge and experience of rural issues and consensual grant making model.
  • Satisfactory Access NI disclosure certificate (successful candidate only

Desirable Skills

  • Awareness of and experience in addressing community safety issues.
  • Experience in sourcing funding, planning/delivering of projects and programmes with rural young people.
  • An awareness of local rural community development processes.
