Job description
Process purchase orders for components and materials as directed by Kanban, MRP and Inventory shortage reports. .
Responsibilities
- Manage a number of your own suppliers/parts
- Monitor the On-Time-Delivery status of purchase orders and report to management any deviations.
- Expedite outstanding purchase orders to ensure On-Time-Delivery.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels against department targets including regular reviews of safety stock levels.
- Review component and raw material pricing and negotiate with the vendor to bring in-line with department cost saving targets.
- Advise management on lead time alterations and maintain up to date lead times on systems.
- Liaise with accounts department to ensure all invoice queries are cleared in a timely manner.
- Manage MRP and Component Approval activities for the introduction of New Product Development (NPD).
- Source new components, raw materials and suppliers when the need arises.
- Maintain departmental performance and compliance reports.
- To liaise with Whale account managers, Whale production and warehouse team to ensure dispatch schedule falls in line with customer requirements and Whale monthly budgeted sales targets.
- Liaise with dispatch staff and supply chain team to ensure that the relevant export and legal documentation for orders e.g. shipping information, commercial invoices, etc. are supplied with the goods.
- All other tasks as reasonably requested by the Purchasing & SQA Manager or Production Manager.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- IT skills - Excel, Outlook.
- Good communication skills.
- Be able to build relationships with suppliers.
Desirable Skills
- CIPS Qualification.
