Team Leader
Job description
This position is open to female applicants only, as it involves providing a supportive and safe environment to female clients. The Team Leader will oversee and co-ordinate the work of Support Workers. She will work in conjunction with other Team Leaders to ensure the seamless provision of support services 24/7 within the shelter, through to the resettlement of homeless women, many of whom have complex needs. She will contribute to the effective and efficient organisation and management of the shelter in accordance with agreed professional standards and operational policies..
Responsibilities
- Ensure the referral and induction process for service users is undertaken in accordance with Clarendon Shelters procedures.
- Undertake an assessment of a service users needs and risk to ascertain intervention level required.
- Assist in developing focused outcome-based support plans to encourage service users toward independent living.
- Ensure the service user is involved in and consulted on all aspects of their support where possible.
- Make full use of available services and through liaison with relevant services such as the Social Security Agency, Housing Benefit Branch, NIHE.
- Ensure the needs of service users are effectively met promoting independence through support, development, and progression.
- The above should not be regarded as conclusive or definitive. It is a guideline within which the individual jobholder works and may be altered or amended to meet changing needs.
- Convene team meetings and allocate a Key Worker, taking account of individual workloads.
- Carry out ongoing four weekly reviews to ensure that all elements of the Support Plan are being actioned by the appropriate staff.
- Manage activities around tenancy support including developing links to assist with a move on plan.
- Lead and motivate staff to perform effectively and in line with internal and external quality standards, the Quality Assessment Framework and organisational policy and procedure and contract requirements.
- To lead the team in providing a stimulating, client focused and supportive environment to meet the social, emotional, physical, health and resettlement needs of residents.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- At least one year's paid or two years voluntary experience working in the homelessness field or related sector.
- A minimum of six months experience of leading a team.
- GCSE English Language and Maths Grade C higher or equivalent.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of the issues associated with homelessness and the support needs of homeless people. The ability to contribute to on-going assessment of the support needs of vulnerable adults and children in accordance with Supporting People procedures.
- The ability, willingness, and flexibility to work on a day/night shift rota if required. Awareness of the security, health and safety issues within a shelter.
Desirable Skills
- Two years paid experience in the homelessness field or related sector.
- Qualification in housing management, social work or mental health or other relevant qualification.
- Full Driving Licence valid in the UK.
