Pharmacy Technician-ICT


Job description

The post holder will be based in the Pharmacy Department at Altnagelvin Hospital but will provide technical support and training to all ICT users within the Pharmacy WHSCT. He/she will manage and co-ordinate: The diagnosis and resolution of hardware/software faults across a diverse range of pharmacy related software and hardware products in both standalone and networked environments. Project leadership for the installation and configuration of ICT hardware and pharmacy related software in both standalone and networked environments in partnership with WHSCT ICT Department. Communicate to Pharmacy ICT users regarding the operation of ICT security policies and procedures. Day to day ICT fault resolution in conjunction with WHSCT ICT helpdesk. The development and implementation of electronic materials management solutions within the WHSCT in partnership with WHSCT ICT Department. The post holder will be responsible for providing a system management services for Abloy Medicines Security System across the Trust. The post holder will also participate in the development, maintenance and implementation of policies and procedures concerning the development, operation and use of computerised and manual information systems The post holder will also provide technical support to the Lead Procurement Pharmacy Technician based in Altnagelvin Hospital. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that all activities associated with the role take account of Information Governance, Cyber Security, Business Continuity arrangements and Emergency Planning. This would also include participation in incident response activities during a major incident or Cyber-attack. The post holder will support and deputise for the Lead Dispensary and Distribution Technician and other Pharmacy Technicians in their absence. The post holder will be required to work collaboratively to cover annual leave and sickness within the department..

Responsibilities

  • To ensure that all departmental procedures are followed, and that all activities are performed in accordance with Regional and National standards
  • Development of standard Operating Procedures for existing and new pharmacy related ICT hardware and software

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A minimum of 5 years working as a qualified pharmacy technician 2 of which must have been as a Band 5/senior technician.
  • Including 2 years experience in Information Technology Services or Information Management Services in the Hospital Pharmacy environment

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of using/supporting WHSCT Information Systems

Location: Altnagelvin Hospital, Glenshane Rd, Derry/Londonderry Salary: £33,706 to £40,588 per annum pro rata
