Job description

The Employer is: ELEVEG LTD. In this role, the trainee will support data collection and analysis for our vertical farming systems. They will learn to use data analytics tools to monitor plant growth, environmental conditions, and system performance. The role includes reporting findings to the research team, assisting in the development of data-driven cultivation strategies, and maintaining data integrity..

Responsibilities

  • Data Collection: Meticulously gather data from a range of IoT devices and sensors embedded within the vertical farming setups, ensuring that both the accuracy and reliability of the data collection process are upheld.
  • Data Entry and Management: Efficiently input and oversee the data stored in relevant databases or spreadsheets, ensuring that everything is well-organized and maintains integrity, thus facilitating straightforward access and analysis.
  • Basic Data Analysis: Under supervision, conduct analyses of the collected data to uncover patterns, trends & insights that could potentially enhance plant growth & efficiency of the systems, employing fundamental tools such as Excel or Google sheets.
  • Report Generation: Compile regular reports that encapsulate the findings and observations from the data, with a focus on noting any significant shifts or anomalies that require attention.
  • Support in Research Projects: Contribute to ongoing research initiatives by supplying the necessary data, aiding in hypothesis formulation, and conducting tests under the direction of senior personnel.
  • Learning and Using Data Tools: Participate in training sessions to develop proficiency in various data analysis tools and software, aimed at boosting skills in data visualization and advanced analytics.
  • Collaboration and Feedback: Work collaboratively with the technical team and fellow trainees, offering data-driven feedback to refine system operations and actively engage in team discussions.

  • Basic Computer Operations: Understanding how to start, shut down, and navigate a computer using operating systems like Windows or macOS.
  • Word Processing: Skills in using word processing software such as Microsoft Excel to create, format, and edit documents.
  • Internet Navigation: Ability to efficiently search for information online and navigate different websites.
  • Email Management: Knowing how to send, receive, and organise emails.
  • Basic Troubleshooting: Ability to identify common computer issues such as software errors or connectivity problems and knowing how to resolve them or when to seek help.
  • Timekeeping: The ability to manage ones time effectively to meet deadlines, crucial for both personal and professional settings.
  • Efficiency: Being able to perform tasks in the quickest and most effective manner without sacrificing quality. This includes planning and prioritising work to maximise productivity.

The Employer is: ELEVEG LTD. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended, and it could lead to a permanent position. Desirable interests or skills: Strong analytical skills, interest in plant science and technology, and eagerness to learn about IoT applications in horticulture. Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and data visualisation tools is desirable. Experience in gardening or plant care is beneficial but not required.
