Communications Assistant


Job description

We are looking for a Communications Assistant to be responsible for the creation of content such as media releases and social media posts on behalf of Groundwork NI. They will help write, edit and produce content for our website and social media channels. They will also help monitor and evaluate our digital communications and assist with tasks to support the wider administrative team. As a Communications Assistant, you should be an excellent communicator with outstanding attention to detail, be able to create effective media content and to multi-task. .

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate social media posts for all GWNI activities.
  • Create a communication calendar for promotion of current and future projects.
  • Capture case studies from current service users/volunteers.
  • Develop a stakeholder map.
  • Attend community events to publicise the work of GWNI.
  • Attend training to learn about communications.
  • Ensure the Trust and its work are well promoted.
  • Support management with the creation of a suite of effective marketing materials.
  • Support community engagement events to facilitate service/project development.
  • Respond to general enquiries via email, phone and social media.
  • Ensure adherence to all GWNI policies and procedures.
  • Undertake any other work appropriate with the evolving objectives of the post and as may reasonably be requested by the Management Team.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Social media content creation.
  • Excellent knowledge of various social media platforms, including Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
  • Experience of event management.
  • Diary management.
  • Experience in case study creation.
  • Customer relationship management.
  • Ability to plan and manage workload effectively.
  • Responding to email, phone, and social media queries.
  • Basic IT/administration skills i.e., use of Outlook, document preparation file management.

Desirable Skills

  • A full driving licence that enables the holder to drive in Northern Ireland and access to a car for official business (or access to a form of transport which will enable the applicant to meet the requirements of the post in full).

Further Information

The Employer is: GROUNDWORK NORTHERN IRELAND. Salary: 16-17 £6.40, 18-20 £8.60, 21 plus £11.44 per hour. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer. You will have a demonstrable interest in digital communications. Above all, you will have outstanding written and verbal communication skills. We’ll expect you to work hard to support the team, but we also see this as a developmental role: we want you to contribute ideas and to give you a varied role that will allow you to develop your skills.
