Marketing Officer


Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Marketing Officer with excellent organisational skills. You will be able to work as part of the team and also independently to undertake a wide range of activities within the role. To ensure success, you should have a solid understanding of marketing principles and a working knowledge of message distribution channels. Top candidates will exhibit creative thinking skills, a determination to succeed and excellent communication skills. The Marketing Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the marketing strategies. The purpose of the role is to increase the charity turnover and profitability, ensuring the long-term success of the seed conservation work. Fundraising duties and responsibilities will form a part of this role. This post is funded by Department for Communities until end October 2025. It should be possible for this role to be extended should there be sufficient revenue generated. .

Responsibilities

  • Learn True Harvest Seeds objectives and aims and our current operating framework
  • Translate the scientific data of the charity and industry into user-friendly concepts
  • Develop original content for social, video, audio and written content, including copy writing
  • Work with designers to produce printed marketing material
  • Produce and distribute public relations material
  • Monthly newsletter and quarterly membership magazine content, design and publication
  • Regular social media posts working with other staff and volunteers
  • Work with our retail eCommerce coordinator to promote the online shop
  • Plan and implement trade show attendance
  • To identify marketing opportunities and media coverage
  • Ensure brand consistency across all channels
  • Setup a simple tracking system for each marketing campaign, online or other activities
  • Be mindful of appropriate funding opportunities for our projects
  • Identify opportunities for fundraising
  • Take part in contacting stakeholders, establish expressions of interest for partnerships with relevant individuals and organisations
  • Contribute to funding applications
  • Prepare and present marketing and fundraising reports
  • To perform the job in accordance with the companys policies and procedures, especially with the Equal Opportunities and Harassment Policy
  • To perform any other duties as may be reasonably required from time-to-time

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Experience in the development of social media content and regular posting on a variety of social media platforms
  • Ability to understand projects in terms of scale, requirements and execution
  • Ability to work efficiently and manage your own time
  • Ability to work as an integral part of the team and independently
  • Experience within marketing and/or sales
  • Ability to learn how to gather data and convert it into meaningful analysis
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills
  • To ensure success, you should have a solid understanding of marketing principles and a working knowledge of message distribution channels

Desirable Skills

  • Prior fundraising experience
  • Experience in media relations
  • Working knowledge of Woo Commerce
  • Experience in video and audio content production
  • Experience in content production and creative writing
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft or Google office software
  • Experience in Photoshop, Klavyio, In Design or equivalent software
  • Awareness of search engine optimisation techniques
  • Experience in website content management systems
