Administrator - Finance/Payroll


Job description

To provide financial administration to assist in the efficient and effective operation of various areas of Finance and Payroll in the Finance Department.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the monitoring and collection of outstanding debts in line with the College’s Credit Control Procedures
  • Assist in the handling and safekeeping of petty cash, cheques and the lodgement of cash takings
  • Assist in the taking of card payments, maintaining strict confidentiality of card and personal details
  • Prepare and issue College invoices to customers as required
  • Assist in the setting up and management of direct debits and instalment plans for customers and following up on unpaid amounts

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Have GCSE English (Grade C or higher) or Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Communication, or any qualifications which are deemed to be equivalent
  • Have GCSE Maths (Grade C or higher) or Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Numeracy, or NICATS Access Maths Modules, or any qualifications which are deemed to be equivalent
  • Be able to demonstrate on the application form, by providing personal and specific examples, at least three years experience working in in the area of Finance
  • Be able to demonstrate on the application form, by providing personal and specific examples, previous experience working with Microsoft Office applications, in particular Microsoft Excel

Desirable Skills

  • Be able to demonstrate on the application form, by providing personal and specific examples, previous experience working within Further Education/Public Sector
  • Be able to demonstrate on the application form, by providing personal and specific examples, previous experience working within Payroll
