Centre Support Officer


Job description

Work closely with Centre Manager to ensure smooth running of Reception Area and Building utilised by Rosemount and District Welfare Rights Report immediately all damage to the premise or defects in equipment to the Centre Manager. Undertake porterage duties as required in relation to incoming or outgoing goods erection and dismantling of stands and equipment as required moving of furniture etc. Open and close the premises as and when required Safe custody of the keys of the premises. Operate fire alarm burglar alarm and building security systems fire alarm testing checks and report any faults. Other duties Rosemount and District Welfare Rights Group staff are expected to adopt a flexible and positive approach to their role and perform any other duties deemed relevant to the post as directed by the line manager or Board of Directors of Rosemount and District Welfare Rights Group. All staff are therefore expected to work in a flexible way when the occasion arises and tasks which are not specifically covered in their job description have to be undertaken. At times the post holder may be expected to work some weekends and evenings for which time off in lieu can be taken. If additional responsibilities and tasks become a regular or frequent part of the member of staffs job it will be included on the job description in consultation with the member of staff. Responsibilities

  • Open and close the premises as and when required.
  • Safe custody of the keys of the premises.
  • Operate fire alarm burglar alarm and building security systems fire alarm testing checks and report any faults.
  • Compile the number of service users on each programme on a monthly basis report in format requested by manager.
  • Keep booking diary up to date and record manually take and record future bookings and give receipts for all payments received.
  • Provide support in the delivery of programmes and activities
  • Update social media as required Facebook Twitter Instagram and ensure all local community noticeboards receive notification of all events and programmes.
  • Create and maintain good working relations with staff volunteers management committee and centre users.
  • Provide maintain and collate sign in sheets for all programmes ensuring accurate numbers are recorded for audit purposes.
  • Manage room bookings and work with the Centre Manager to ensure the room is fit for purpose and any refreshments required are prepared ordered in advance.
  • Attend off site trips when required. Provide assistance at seasonal events and to carry out any other reasonable duties required by the Manager.
  • Prepare and set up rooms in advance of use together with the clearing up thereafter in preparation for use by the next group and to ensure that adequate supplies of cleaning materials and other materials are requisitioned.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent to include Maths and English Grade A to C or NVQ Level 3 with one years relevant experience.
  • Or: three years paid relevant experience of working in a similar role
  • Health and Safety Level 1 or above
  • Must be IT proficiency

Desirable Skills

  • IT qualification e.g., ECDL, Microsoft Office Certification or similar. First aid qualification
  • Experience of working in front of house reception role
  • Experience of working in a charity or community development organisation
  • Access to a car

Further Information

Salary: £22,308 per annum pro rata
