Trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner for ED Band 7
Job description
The Trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner is a developmental post that is working towards becoming an Advanced Nurse Practitioner ANP through successful completion of: a recognised non-medical prescribing qualification; an MSc Nursing Advanced Nursing practice in Childrens nursing validated paediatric Emergency Department modules and or any other clinical/theoretical knowledge and skills required for the role. The trainee ANP will fulfil this role under the supervision of a Named Emergency Department Consultant. The supervision will be clearly linked to the competencies that require completion within a prearranged and designated period. The focus will be on developing autonomous practice. The trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner ANP will use their expert knowledge and complex decision making skills, guided by The Code in unpredictable situations. The trainee ANP is accountable for the total episode of care for patients with undifferentiated and diagnosed needs and is shaped by the context of their clinical practice. The ANP trainee must be able to demonstrate competence across the four key areas of the Advanced Nursing Practice Framework . In addition the trainee must show the ability to work at an advanced level and be able to apply the competence in the key areas of their scope of practice. Demonstrated proficiency will advance this role from a Band 7 Trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner to a Band 8A, Advanced Nurse Practitioner. NOTE The successful applicant will only move to Band 8A on successful completion of the MSC in Advanced Practice within 3-5 years of appointment, unless evidence of extenuating circumstances is submitted. Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Live NMC Registration on Part 1 (Child) of the NMC Register.
- Successful completion of a graduate level qualification.
