Job description

To be part of the Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Service to pre school children within the Pre School Child Development (PCD) Team, and SLD service. To provide a high level of clinical expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and management of pre school/school aged children with a broad range of speech, language and communication needs associated with severe learning difficulties, autistic spectrum disorders, developmental language disorders. The post holder will be responsible for the management of pre school/school aged children with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties and/or dysphagia. He/she will have access to specialist speech and language therapists for expert clinical advice, supervision and support. .

Responsibilities

• To be responsible for assessment, diagnosis, prioritisation, treatment and management of a full range of speech and language disorders, in partnership with parents/carers and relevant Health/Educational professionals.
• The post holder will work within the Children and Young People Speech and Language Therapy (CYPSLT) team. He/she will work with the Senior Speech and Language Therapist with regard to the day to day management of the service.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Applicants must have 2 years post graduate experience of working with pre-school and school age children presenting with a range of speech, language and communication disorders
• Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses e.g. Derbyshire Language Scheme, Makaton, Michael Palin Parent Child Interaction
