Job description
Strategic Lead Pharmacist responsible for ensuring the optimal use of antimicrobials within the Northern Health and Social Care Trust (NHSCT) Lead on the safe, rational, effective and economic use of antimicrobial agents across the Trust to optimise outcomes, minimise adverse reactions and errors, and limit the development of antimicrobial resistance in patients in the NHSCT Work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure antimicrobial stewardship across the Trust Lead an antimicrobial pharmacy team to deliver high quality specialist pharmaceutical care to patients on antimicrobial therapy in both the inpatient and outpatient setting (OPAT). Lead on the development and delivery of programmes of education, to support clinical pharmacists and all grades of medical and nursing staff and non-medical prescribers to achieve maximum efficiency and best outcomes for patients with respect to the use of antimicrobials Lead on multidisciplinary audit, service development and research activity relating to antimicrobial stewardship in collaboration with local, regional and national teams/organisations .
Responsibilities
- Lead on the development and delivery of medicines management with respect to the use of antimicrobials across the Trust.
- Act as a champion for patients with infection or receiving surgical antimicrobial prophylaxis, working across boundaries to facilitate changes required between secondary and primary care to maximise effectiveness, reduce adverse drug reactions etc.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- MPharm in Pharmacy or equivalent
- MPSNI or eligible to register
