Job description

In conjunction with the AHP Lead Acute Services, Head of Physiotherapy & clinical specialists take responsibility for the development and delivery of a high quality Physiotherapy service. Assist in the strategic planning of this service and ensure delivery of effective multidisciplinary working, effective financial management and the most efficient use of all resources. As Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner and governance lead for physiotherapy acute services for the Trust, advise the clinical specialists, Acute services AHP Lead, Head of Physiotherapy, Assistant Director and Trust Senior Management Team on reform, practice development, implementation of evidence based practice, policies and procedure development and implementation of pathways of care for patients and their carers. Have overall responsibility for the operational day to day management of the Physiotherapy staff/service within acute services CAH acute wards in the first instance. Provide professional leadership, clinical expertise and knowledge on behalf of the physiotherapy service to a range of consultants, AHP professionals, Physiotherapists, undergraduates, post graduates and other Health and Social Care partners/disciplines in the multi-disciplinary/agency teams As the Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner be responsible for their own highly specialist clinical caseload in acute services The post holder will initiate clinical audit, encourage and identify research areas and ongoing service reviews, with a view to recommending changes in practice. This includes implementation of specific changes in practice and service protocols in line with National Service Frameworks, professional standards and Trust Development Plans and DHSSPS guidance. Given the need for robust governance and management arrangements the post holder will support with all professional issues relating to physiotherapy across all the Teams in the Acute Directorate on CAH site..

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all DHSSPS Circulars and guidance on care management processes and case management of health and social care needs.
  • Ensure the services provided by all teams comply with DHSSPSs Patient and Client Experience Standards.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Diploma / degree in Physiotherapy.
  • Current Registration with HCPC.
