Playgroup Assistant
Job description
The playgroup assistant will support the leader and team to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children. They will take set up and take part in activities both indoors and outdoors. They will communicate with and help build relationships with parents and families..
Responsibilities
- The assistant will help to set up the room for the day and help with tidy up after the sessions. They will maintain a good standard of hygiene throughout the playgroup setting. They will help to plan and participate in activities.
- Listen to, encourage and stimulate the children during activities and throughout the sessions. They will record observations. Attend staff meeting regularly. Follow all policies and procedures in place in the playgroup.
- They will prepare and facilitate children's breaktime. They will keep confidential and information regarding the children, their families and the staff and setting.
- This list is not exhaustive and other duties as required by the leader and management committee.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- NVQ Level 3 in CCLD or Level 2 with 2 years experience.
- Good knowledge of the minimum standards.
Desirable Skills
- Up to date first aid, food hygiene and safeguarding certificates.
Further Information
This position will be for 2/3 days a week with an opportunity to increase these depending on the candidate and on the needs of the playgroup, this is subject to change.
