Radiotherapy Pre-treatment Team Leader Therapeutic
Job description
The area of responsibility will primarily be within the pre-treatment section. However, the opportunity to rotate through the treatment area may be considered. The post-holder will manage a team of radiographers and be responsible for the efficient daily organisation, administration and technical management of an allocated section of the radiotherapy pre-treatment area or treatment area if applicable, ensuring high standards of radiotherapeutic practice and patient care. Primary responsibilities, depending on working area, will be to ensure the safe planning or delivery of radiotherapy treatments, documentation and transfer of data and maintenance of high quality standards; to monitor and report treatment related toxicity; ensure safe use of all equipment and reporting of faults. The post-holder will be responsible for the implementation of new technology, undertaking appropriate training as required, and working effectively within the multi-disciplinary team in the development of new treatment techniques and working practices. The post-holder will provide expert clinical supervision and support for staff and students working within the allocated area. This will include co-ordinating relevant training of staff rotated through the area and ensuring all staff are competent to practice before operating equipment clinically or approving data. Other duties will also include participating in the recruitment and selection of radiotherapy staff, undertaking performance review, participating in both uni- and multi-professional audit, covering for other Team Leaders and carrying out duties in other sections of the department as required. .
Responsibilities
- Ensure high standards of radiotherapy practice and patient care. This will involve providing clinical and technical support and supervision to the team of radiographers in the allocated area.
- Be responsible for the efficient daily management and organisation of an allocated area of the pre-treatment suite including CT-Sims, Virtual simulation planning office and planning clinics, or the radiotherapy treatment floor if appropriate.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in therapeutic radiography with at least 3 years experience at Band 6 or above in a clinical radiotherapy setting.
- A minimum of 1 years experience working as a Band 6 or above in Radiotherapy Pre-treatment including both CT and Virtual Simulation.
Desirable Skills
- Evidence of relevant post qualification education or management training.
- Current Full Driving Licence Where disability prohibits driving, this criteria will be waived if the applicant is able to organise suitable alternative arrangements.
