DFC Work Experience - Designer / Developer


Job description

GetSociable, a software tech company headquartered in Belfast are looking for a Designer / Developer. Working on a feature-rich platform which includes a web app / portal, the candidate will be part of a diverse team where they can influence the strategy, and engage with high profile external stakeholders..

Responsibilities

  • Investigating user experience design requirements for our website and app.
  • Producing UX design solutions through wireframes, visual and graphic designs, flow diagrams, storyboards, site maps, and prototypes.
  • Designing UI elements and tools such as navigation menus, search boxes, tabs, and widgets.
  • Testing UI elements such as CTAs, banners, page layouts, page designs, page flows, and target links for landing pages.
  • Collaborating with the marketing team, and internal and external designers to ensure the creation and delivery of tailored experiences for the digital user.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • User Interface (UI) Design: Understanding of design principles, layout, and visual hierarchy to create visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces.
  • User Experience (UX) Design: Ability to empathise with users, conduct user research, and create designs that provide a positive and intuitive user experience.
  • Prototyping: Proficiency in creating interactive prototypes using tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD to demonstrate design concepts and interactions.
  • Graphic Design: Knowledge of graphic design principles and tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) for creating icons, illustrations, and other visual elements.
  • Typography: Understanding of typography and the ability to choose and pair fonts effectively for readability and aesthetics.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues and find efficient solutions.
  • HTML & CSS: Basic understanding of writing and styling web pages.

Desirable Skills

  • Continuous Learning: A proactive approach to learning and staying updated on industry trends, tools, and best practices.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to new technologies and methodologies in the rapidly evolving field of design and development.
  • Attention to Detail: Thoroughness and attention to detail, ensuring a high level of quality in both design and code.

Further Information

This work experience opportunity is expected to last for 8 weeks and will require attendance of 30 hours. While on Work Experience, participants will retain their entitlement to benefit. Those who are not receiving benefit are also welcome to participate. Travel and childcare costs may be reimbursed. Participants will also receive an incentive payment equivalent to £10/day to a maximum of £50/week. Contact your local Jobs and Benefits office for further information.
