Job description

We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Childcare Assistant to join our team. The primary responsibility of the Childcare Assistant is to meet the basic needs of children under our care, promote their wellbeing, engage in play activities and create a safe and nurturing environment. This role involves supporting and supervising children while their mothers participate in various activities provided by our charity..

Responsibilities

• Ensure the basic needs of children are met in a caring and timely manner.
• Create a safe and nurturing environment for children.
• Engage in age appropriate play activities to stimulate children's development.
• Foster positive interactions and relationships among children.
• Collaborate with other childcare staff to ensure a smooth and organised environment.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the childcare area.
• Communicate effectively with parents and provide updates on their child's wellbeing.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Patience, empathy and a genuine love for working with children.
• Ability to create a safe and engaging environment for children.
• Basic knowledge of child development and age appropriate activities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other childcare staff.
• Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the changing needs of children.

Desirable Skills

• Previous experience in childcare or related roles.
• Basic knowledge of First Aid (training can be provided).
• Understanding of inclusive practices for children with diverse needs.
• Creativity in planning and organising play activities.

Further Information

The Employer is: FITMOMS & KIDS. Although this is a part-time temporary opportunity, hours may be extended and it could lead to a permanent position. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer.
