Senior Management Accountant


Job description

The Senior Management Accountant will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing the day to day operations of the management accounting team. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the team meets deadlines, maintaining a high standard of work quality, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The Senior Management Accountant will also be the primary point of contact for training and development within the team. .

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of management accountants, providing guidance, support, and motivation.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Act as the first line reviewer for the work produced by the management accounting team; such as monthly management accounts, budget builds, costing schedules up to pre-determined values.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established standards in all financial reports and analyses.
  • Provide constructive feedback to team members to facilitate their professional development.
  • Oversee the timely completion of all management accounting tasks and projects, such as pack to Trustees.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to schedules
  • Identify training needs within the team and develop a comprehensive training plan.
  • Facilitate cross-training initiatives to enhance team members versatility.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve existing processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with team members to streamline workflows and eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Serve as the main point of contact between the management accounting team and the Head of Finance. Collaborate with other departments, such as operations and IT, to ensure seamless communication and coordination
  • Conduct regular team meetings to discuss priorities, address challenges, and provide updates.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency and meet tight deadlines.
  • Provide ongoing training to team members on technical skills, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Implement best practices in management accounting and stay abreast of industry trends.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Qualified Accountant and current member of one of the following recognised CCAB bodies:
  • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA); Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICA); Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA); Chartered Institute of Public Finance Accountants (CIPFA).
  • Proven experience in management accounting, with a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting.
  • Demonstrate experience of use of computerised finance packages and experience in excel
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
