Job description

The Centre Based worker will have responsibility for the management and development of the youth programme. By providing a multifaceted youth work provision with a key focus on generic and targeted youth work, maximising the use of the centre by young people for agreed purposes, in line with the organisation’s policies. The Centre Based Worker will also have the responsibility to promote the aims and objectives of Londonderry YMCA Ltd and to work collaboratively with other youth work agencies in the Greater Waterside and Faughan area..

Responsibilities

• Managing and Developing a Range of Services within the Designated Area
• Developing Staff and Facilities at Londonderry YMCA Ltd
• Working With Agencies to Develop Services across the community
• Leading Project Development and Implementation within Londonderry YMCA Ltd.
• Management Responsibility for Project Staff
• Other Responsibilities: To represent the organisation locally and nationally at YMCA Ireland and other external organisation events and training. To hold the Deputy Designated Child Protection Officer position within the Tullyally.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Have completed, or working towards completion of a relevant degree, Youth Work, Community Work, Education, Social Work, or can demonstrate an equivalent qualification.
• Have at least 3 years of experience in leading projects in Youth and/or Community Work and an OCN Level 3 in Youth Work or equivalent.

Desirable Skills

• Experience in the design and delivery of Youth Work development programmes
• Experience in managing Youth Workers in a Youth Centre or Youth Project
