Neighbourhood Operative
Job description
Working with other staff to assist with a range of general operational tasks including; refuse, cleansing, grounds and winter maintenance duties in open spaces, towns/villages, landscaped areas, sports pitches, gardens, parks, cemeteries, other council property and council maintained areas. .
Responsibilities
- To assist with grass cutting, hedge trimming, clearing leaves and litter, weed control, snow clearance, gritting etc.
- To assist with amenity horticultural operations such as planting, watering, pruning, seeding, topping up of graves and/or turf laying and the application of fertilisers as required.
- To assist with site preparation and construction work under supervision.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Applicants must provide specific and personal examples of having at least 6 months experience in 3 or more of the areas:
- a) Repetitive manual work b) Dealing with the public on a face-to-face basis c) Working as part of a team d) Operating tools, powered hand tools e) Operating plant/excavation machinery f) Horticultural operations
- Applicants must possess a full, current driving licence (Minimum Category B) which enables them to drive in Northern Ireland and to drive a council vehicle provided for official business.
