Job description

The post is aimed at developing quality Early Years’ (EY) services/provision to support the delivery of DOWN SureStart programmes and activities. The EY Coordinator will be responsible for planning, organising and implementing a stimulating and varied programme of play and educational activities for children aged 0-4 and will offer support and assistance to parents/carers to enhance the quality of life of pre-school children within the area. .

Responsibilities

• Promoting the importance of early learning for children up to the age of 4 yrs. across the Down SureStart area.
• Promoting an understanding of the importance of providing quality play experiences for young childrens development. This may be through training, information, materials and events.
• The EY Coordinators role will include capacity building, promotion and enhancement of EY practice and experiences for young children though work with parents/carers, families, EY settings and Sure Start staff.
• The EY Coordinator will be responsible for the supervision/management of all Early Years staff working within the DOWN SureStart Project.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• BA Hons Degree in Early Childhood Studies or equivalent and 1 years relevant experience OR QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Childrens Care and Learning Development (Management) Wales/NI and 1 years relevant experience.
• OR Degree in Teaching, Nursing or Social Work and 2 years paid relevant experience.
