Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an Area Administrator to join our Employment & Personal Development team on a temporary part-time (15 hours per week) contract until 31st March 2025 with possible extension for a further 2 months. The Area Administrator will provide support to our Employment & Personal Development teams across Northern Ireland based working from home and/or at a local Mencap Office..

Responsibilities

  • The Area Administrator will work as part of a team and is expected to work effectively and collaboratively with all colleagues, to deliver high quality, effective and cost-efficient administrative support to ensure the smooth running of our services.
  • As a first point of contact for staff, individuals, families and members of the public, you will deal with general enquiries, support to facilitate daily operations and build good relations with staff and the people who use our services.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Good working knowledge of office systems and confident in using Microsoft packages (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to competently compose letters and documents on behalf of others in line with protocols
  • Ability to liaise with staff at all levels, both internal and external contacts and work well with all of your colleagues
  • Ability to work efficiently when under pressure
  • Highly organised, excellent time management and can prioritise self and others
  • Able to travel to other Mencap locations on occasion
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professionalism
  • Excellent communicator both orally and written
  • Able to cope well when under pressure from competing priorities, unpredictable requests and interruptions
  • Able to work outside normal office hours on occasion
  • Ideally have experience of working within a secure and confidential environment

Desirable Skills

  • It is desired that the successful candidate will have an understanding of the issues facing people with a learning disability
  • Experience of working within a secure and confidential environment
