Job description

Supervise and participate in the day-to-day activities of the technical services section under the direction of the lead pharmacist / lead technician..

Responsibilities

• Maintain the technical services facility to the defined standards of environmental control and reporting mechanisms are followed correctly.
• Check staff comply with safety instructions and policies regarding working in a technical services unit.
• Manage band 4 technician(s) and other pharmaceutical staff.
• Undertake pre- and in-process checking of aseptically prepared and dispensed medicines.
• Responsible for the scheduling of the daily workload.
• Undertake the induction, training and assessment of technical competency of pharmacy technicians, student pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support workers.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Have worked for at least two years in hospital pharmacy as a qualified technician.
• Experience in aseptic preparation at a clean air device.

Desirable Skills

• Have experience working with computers.
