Job description
To assist the Cook Manager to plan and cook nutritional meals (including baking) to meet the needs of the residents, within the Christian ethos and aims of the Council for Social Witness..
Responsibilities
- To assist the Cook Manager with food preparation, cooking and baking.
- To serve food and clean and tidy work areas in the kitchen, including shelves, drawers and cooker.
- Wash dishes.
- To take part in staff meetings within the home and also any training sessions.
- To have an understanding of the needs of the elderly in a nursing/residential home situation.
- This job description is intended to be neither definitive nor restrictive and can be changed or augmented at any time to meet changing needs.
- The above duties will require the moving of furniture.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Experience of catering outside a domestic setting.
- Evidence and understanding of and respect for the needs of older people.
- Willingness to work additional hours to meet the requirements of the Home.
- Awareness of health and safety practices within a catering and residential environment.
