DFC Work Experience - ReStore Warehouse
Job description
At Habitat ReStore, Individuals will gain work experience within a warehouse and retail shop environment. Individuals will gain experience in various warehouse operations. Tasks include, on occasion, going out in the van (with staff) to collect furniture and household donations from customers, assisting by removing the donations from the house and loading into van. Unloading van on arriving back to the shop. Helping staff and volunteers to sort incoming donations which arrive by car. Helping to display donations in the shop and assisting customers in the shop. Warehouse post refers to opportunities working on the more physical side of Restore operations. This would include lifting furniture, household items and DIY items, such as doors, windows, paint and timber. Operations take place on the shop floor, in customer’s premises, in the van and in the donation centre. Workload includes liaising with staff, volunteers and customers. The working environment is friendly, supportive, engaging and busy.
Responsibilities
- Support the Donations Collection Team with the collection of donations in the Habitat van.
- Sort donated goods, this could include pricing of stock.
- Helping to ensure a high standard of presentation on the shop floor.
- Providing customer service, handling customer queries.
- Opportunity to learn how to book customer collections.
- Loading items to customers’ cars and trailers.
- Moving items around the shop and donation centre.

Further Information
Employer - Habitat for Humanity. This work experience opportunity is expected to last for 8 weeks and will require attendance of 25-30 hours per week. While on Work Experience, participants will retain their entitlement to benefit. Those who are not receiving benefit are also welcome to participate. Travel and childcare costs may be reimbursed. Participants will also receive an incentive payment equivalent to £10/day to a maximum of £50/week.
