Job description

A General Construction Operative is responsible for a variety of different duties, including: Helping skilled tradespeople with every aspect of the building process. Being involved in projects from start to finish.

Responsibilities

• Various duties to include digging trenches; laying concrete; using equipment such as cement mixers, water pumps; and manual moving, loading and unloading materials.
• Keeping the site tidy.
• Looking after tools and equipment.
• Follow instructions from skilled workers.
• Ensure all safety clothing always worn.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Ability to understand instructions and carry them out reliably and efficiently.
• Have a sound general knowledge about health and safety issues.
• Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
• Ability to work in a team.
• Willing to work.

Desirable Skills

• Previous construction site experience would be advantageous

Further Information

The employer is - Henry Brothers Ltd. This work experience opportunity is expected to last for 2 weeks and will require attendance of 38 hours per week. While on Work Experience, participants will retain their entitlement to benefit. Those who are not receiving benefit are also welcome to participate. Travel and childcare costs may be reimbursed.
