Job description

The post is for a Band 7, HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist to provide a high quality specialist psychology service to the clients of the community mental health teams (CMHTs) in the Belfast Health & Social Care Trust. The post-holder will (along with other psychologists in the service), provide a specialist psychology service to clients of the primary and recovery CMHTs (which are soon to become integrated teams). There will be opportunities to provide individual, group and systemic work to clients, their families and staff. There will also be opportunities to supervise more junior members of psychology staff. The service provides reflective practice groups to other teams within the mental health program of care, (which the post-holder will have the opportunity to become involved with) and the service also has its own reflective practice group. There will be opportunities to influence and contribute to service development and QI projects. The service also co-facilitates courses in the recovery college.

Responsibilities

• Undertake direct and indirect clinical work.
• Provide specialist psychological assessment of service-users, families and carers referred to the service.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Honours degree in Psychology (or equivalent) conferring Eligibility for Chartered Membership of BPS.
• Postgraduate Doctorate (or equivalent) accredited by the BPS and qualifying the person to work as an HCPC Practitioner Psychologist.

Desirable Skills

• Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision of junior practitioner psychologists or non-psychology colleagues/organisations.
