Job description

To provide quality teaching and learning opportunities within the specific areas outlined in the post in order to maximise the potential of every student and to undertake non-lecturing duties as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development, organisation and delivery of the Electrical & Electronic Engineering curriculum across the College leading to the award of various qualifications relating to own specialism/s
  • Attend meetings on matters relating to students, course co-ordination, management, assessment and development
  • Participate in the marketing of and recruitment to courses within the subject/programme area
  • Act as a course manager/co-ordinator
  • Undertake assessor and verifier duties

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Have at least a Level 3 qualification in the specialist area
  • Either hold or be willing to attain a Level 5 qualification in a related discipline within three years’ of appointment
  • Have at least three years post qualifying industrial, professional or teaching experience in the specialist area
  • Have GCSE English (Grade C or higher) or Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Communication, or any qualifications which are deemed to be equivalent
  • Have GCSE Maths (Grade C or higher) or Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Numeracy, or NICATS Access Maths Modules, or any qualifications which are deemed to be equivalent

Desirable Skills

  • Have a Post Graduate Certificate in Education or equivalent qualification recognised for teaching in the Northern Ireland FE Sector or be currently registered with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland (GTCNI)
  • Have at least a Level 4 qualification in the specialist area
