Job description

We are recruiting on behalf of our service user who requires a Care Assistant to support a young man with his daily routine. This role involves morning and evening visits totalling 10.5 hours per week. The morning call is one hour and involves assisting with transfers on and off a shower chair, which is also used over the toilet for bowel care. The carer will then help with transfers and provide minimal assistance with washing and dressing. The young man has a swivel bather over the bath and requires one-person assistance for this. Showering takes place on alternate days. The evening call lasts for thirty minutes and involves supervision and assistance with transferring into bed and helping him settle. There is no personal care required.

Essential Skills

• Essential skills include excellent communication and ability to deliver care in a patient, supportive and friendly manner.

Desirable Skills

• Desirable skills include previous experience assisting a wheelchair user.
