Job description
Libraries NI seeks to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic District Manager, to work in the Belfast City Area. Libraries NI is also seeking to create a reserve list of motivated and enthusiastic individuals should the same or similar vacancy arise This is a temporary, full-time 36 hours per week post. This post is initially temporary until 30 September 2025, subject to review and may be extended, made permanent, or terminated for any valid reason. The closing date for applications is Sunday 6 July 2025 at 11:59pm. Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Coordinate, drive and support the delivery of library services through physical and virtual platforms to ensure the highest standard of customer care and satisfaction
- Increasing Participation and Widening Access: Assist in the development and provision of enhanced library resources and services to support agreed priorities
- Staff: Manage teams, coordinating the work of staff to deliver excellent library services and customer care
- Resources, Systems and Premises: Assist in the review and assessment of user needs to ensure the effective management and use of resources
- Policy, Procedures and Governance: Contribute to the creation, implementation, monitoring and review of Libraries NI policies and procedures
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- A third level qualification or higher and at least two years’ experience of managing staff and resources. OR a minimum of four years’ relevant experience of managing staff and resources.
- A minimum of one years’ experience in supporting the development or delivery of library services within the last six years
- Experience of liaising/working with internal and/or external stakeholders to achieve service objectives
- Experience of managing and implementing change to meet organisational objectives
- Experience of promoting and improving customer service to enhance the customer experience.
- Must have access to a suitable vehicle (appropriately maintained, insured for Libraries NI business) /other suitable form of transport which to enable the successful candidate to fulfil the requirements of the post to the satisfaction of Libraries NI
- Ability to work a mix of mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends both at base and in other service points as required
- Have no criminal record which would prevent working with children or adults at risk
Desirable Skills
- A professional library qualification
