Projects Development Officer


Job description

To assist in the development, coordination and oversight of the Greater Shantallow Area Partnership’s core community development project and to support the ongoing development of an active, inclusive, influential and learning community across the Greater Shantallow / Outer North / Ballyarnett DE Area. To develop, implement and supervise projects and programmes on behalf of the Greater Shantallow Area Partnership. To assist the Manager & Community Development Manager in promoting the economic, social, environmental and cultural regeneration of the area. To encourage and facilitate the inclusion and participation of community groupings, residents and all other relevant bodies, both statutory and voluntary, and agencies in the implementation of agreed local development strategies, specifically the Outer North Neighbourhood Action Plan and the Ballyarnett DEA Local Growth Plan. To research suitable avenues of funding to allow the Board of Trustees of the G.S.A.P to meet the aims and objectives as defined within the agreed local development strategies.

Responsibilities

  • To assist the Greater Shantallow Area Partnership to facilitate groups, individuals, local residents and organisations within the Greater Shantallow by means of advice, capacity building, support and project development & delivery
  • To oversee the delivery of the Outer North Community Support Project
  • To provide support and assistance as required to local groups / community development organisations, voluntary and statutory agencies
  • To develop, supervise, manage or oversee, as required and agreed by the Board of GSAP, innovative and strategic projects and cross sectoral partnerships and alliances addressing key concerns / issues within the area
  • To facilitate the delivery of training seminars / programmes and workshops targeting management and members of local groups and involving as appropriate other agencies and organisations
  • To facilitate, supervise and oversee as appropriate the establishment of effective monitoring procedures
  • To meet any other agreed requirements as established by Funding Bodies for agreed activities or projects
  • To supervise staff and / or projects as may be required and agreed
  • To carry out any other duties that the Partnership Board may deem necessary from time to time

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A recognised / relevant third level qualification AND at least 1 years paid employment working within the community / voluntary sector to include programme & project coordination
  • Or 2 years paid employment working within the community / voluntary sector to include programme & project coordination
  • Experience in the marketing and delivery of projects, training and programmes to the community / voluntary sector
  • Experience of coordinating projects
  • Experience of overseeing budgets / project spend
  • Experience of facilitating groups
  • Experience in facilitating project team meetings
  • Experience of developing and maintaining relevant monitoring and evaluation systems for funding purposes
  • Experience of researching, designing, developing and preparing funding applications
  • Experience of managing content based social media platforms

Desirable Skills

  • Possess a degree or higher qualification in (for example) community development, or project management
  • Demonstrated experience in carrying out research and monitoring and analysing data
  • Demonstrated experience in working with a range of strategic partners to deliver on a project
