Job description

The post holder will manage and support the development of our Natural Environment and contribute to Recreation opportunities within the Borough. Ensure a customer focused approach by engaging with key stakeholders to identify and implement environmental and commercial measures and sustainable project solutions. Develop, identify, and promote the appreciation and enjoyment of Council owned Parks and other greenspace assets and resources across the Borough. Responsibilities

  • The post holder will manage and support the development of our Natural Environment and contribute to Recreation opportunities within the Borough.

  • Develop, identify, and promote the appreciation and enjoyment of Council owned Parks and other greenspace assets and resources across the Borough.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Level 4 or above in a relevant discipline such as ecology, nature conservation, environmental sciences or countryside management.
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have two years’ experience in knowledge and understanding of the (Local Biodiversity Action Plan) LBAP process.
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have two years’ experience in writing and presenting technical reports to management.
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have two years’ experience in engaging effectively with stakeholders including partners, community groups, volunteers and the public.
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have two years’ experience in delivering successful outcomes and continuous improvement.
  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have two years’ experience in understanding of current environmental legislation.
  • Be prepared to work outside of normal working hours at weekends, evenings and public holidays as dictated by the needs of the service.
  • Full current driving licence valid in UK (minimum Category B) with access to form of transport that will allow fulfilment of duties of post or have access to suitable form of transport which enables post holder to meet requirements of the post.

Desirable Skills

  • Level 5 in a relevant discipline such as ecology, nature conservation, environmental sciences or countryside management.
  • Experience in dealing with public, private and voluntary bodies on biodiversity and environmental issues.

Further Information

Location: Throughout the Borough, to be confirmed. Salary: £37,035 per annum pro rata. Applications for this post will be channelled exclusively through Council’s GETGOT system.
