Transit Driver
Job description
Our client is seeking a dedicated Transit Driver to join their team in Belfast. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the safe and compassionate delivery of Home Oxygen services. This includes the timely and efficient installation, replenishment, servicing, and removal of medical oxygen systems for patients in their homes. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing excellent customer service while ensuring that all deliveries are completed accurately and on time.
Responsibilities
- Deliver a home oxygen service to patients, including installation, replenishment, service, and removal of medical oxygen systems.
- Train and support patients and carers in the safe use of the equipment through practical demonstration and provide access to online resources or our skilled patient service.
- Carry out risk assessments to ensure safe installation of home oxygen equipment and escalate concerns or failures as necessary.
- Collaborate with community providers such as fire services, primary care, social services, and respiratory teams.
- Prioritise patient needs, including urgent hospital discharge or holiday plans, and provide information on oxygen delivery and electricity reimbursements as required.
- Communicate respectfully but efficiently with patients and carry out emergency deliveries as needed.
- Escalate any equipment issues or shortages to senior staff and be flexible with working hours and call-out arrangements as needed.
- Protect personal information and comply with Information Governance requirements.
- Demonstrate personal sensitivity, prioritise safety and quality control and ensure consistency of work quality.
- As this role will be dealing with members of the public, there will be a need to demonstrate an effective level of communication, patient service orientation, ownership, emotional self-control, understanding of patients' needs, and efficiency.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Minimum 3 years transit experience.
- A clean UK driving licence.
- Great communication skills.
- Safety conscious.
Desirable Skills
- Healthcare experience preferred but not required.
