Clinic Administrator
Job description
The post-holder will be responsible for a range of duties including handling patient and GP/ optician queries within the Ophthalmology Macular and Diabetic Eye service, to booking and out coming patient’s appointments. Ensuring an adherence to agreed protocols in relation to appointment booking, call handling and dealing with queries at Outpatient clinics.
Responsibilities
- Reception cover, meet and greet patients, checking demographic details and updating on Encompass system where appropriate.
- Attend and check out patients at clinics on the Encompass system.
- Carry out appropriate action from Clinic Outcomes in accordance with the Integrated Elective Access Protocol (IEAP) ie. Booking appointments up to 6 weeks, adding patient to waiting lists, discharging patients, booking ambulance, booking interprete.
- Make appointments appropriate to their urgency to ensure patients of the same clinical priority are seen in chronological order.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- 4 GCSE’s at C/4 or above to include English Language or equivalent qualification and one year’s administrative experience. OR NVQ Level II Administration and one year’s relevant experience.
- Experience working in an outpatients department.
- Knowledge of hospital PAS system.
Desirable Skills
- 1 year's Health Records experience.
- An understanding of Outpatients waiting time improvement targets.
